KV Mechelen provided the most minutes to Belgian-trained players for the fourth consecutive season in the 2024-2025 Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The Flemish club topped the ranking for minutes on the pitch by Belgian players, ahead of FCV Dender EH (Denderleeuw), KRC Genk, RSC Anderlecht, and Club Brugge. These clubs receive financial rewards from the media rights fund for fielding these players.
KV Mechelen earned a bonus of €600,000 for its Belgian talent, with the rest of the top five receiving €100,000 less per position on the ranking. The Pro League aims to encourage clubs to give more chances to home-grown talent.
“Among the ten biggest leagues in Europe, the Belgian league already offers the most opportunities to young players,” said the Pro League in a statement. “More than one in ten of our first-team squads is under 21 years old. Moreover, investments in youth have increased from €49 million in 2022 to €78 million in 2024.”
The ranking lists clubs that field players registered with a Belgian club for at least three seasons before their 18th birthday. The ranking is finalised at the end of the season, with a maximum of 90 minutes of playtime per match being counted.
