Mike Waltz, the U.S. National Security Advisor, plans to visit Greenland next week, according to the Danish public broadcaster DR.
Waltz will be joined by second lady Usha Vance on the trip to the Danish autonomous island.
The United States has requested official meetings with representatives from Denmark and Greenland, but these requests have been declined.
Usha Vance is scheduled to participate in a dog sled race in Sisimiut starting on 29 March.
Since taking office, U.S. President Donald Trump has maintained that Greenland should become part of the United States. However, Greenland, which is officially part of Denmark, has consistently resisted this idea.
