A severe fire on Sunday afternoon in Blankenberge has resulted in a death of one person, confirmed the public prosecutor’s office of West Flanders, Bruges division. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Emergency services were called at around 13:20 for a house fire on Kerkstraat in Blankenberge. Upon arrival, they discovered it was a significant blaze. Firefighters later found a deceased victim inside the property.
The exact origin of the fire remains undetermined. The blaze is causing traffic disruption.
According to local police in the Blankenberge/Zuienkerke area, Kerkstraat will remain closed for some time.
