Christophe De Beukelaer, leader of Les Engagés in Brussels, expressed hope that the parties blocking the formation of a Brussels government would propose something during the seven-party meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon at 16:00.
He urged PS and Open VLD to be open to negotiations, emphasising that those who cannot make compromises should not be in politics.
De Beukelaer highlighted that their mission was to recreate dialogue among parties that were no longer communicating. He noted that they succeeded in bringing everyone back to the table, enabling a meeting with seven parties.
The meeting will see parties discuss the Brussels budget and explore the next steps. De Beukelaer reiterated his hope that the blocking parties would propose solutions.
The formation of a Brussels government has been stalled since the June elections due to exclusives posed by different parties. Despite numerous meetings, the deadlock persists, notably between Open VLD, which wants N-VA included in the government, and PS, which opposes it.

Open VLD leader Frédéric De Gucht met with MR President Georges-Louis Bouchez on Sunday but Open VLD remains the only party not following the informers’ proposal for a seven-party government comprising MR, PS, Les Engagés, Groen, Open VLD, Vooruit, and CD&V.
Unexpectedly, De Gucht confirmed that he will participate in the meeting. He clarified that it would not be a negotiation but a review of options formulated by a steering committee concerning the Brussels budget situation.
