A fire broke out on the second floor of a flat in the Brussels municipality of Ixelles on Sunday evening, rendering the building uninhabitable.

The Brussels Fire Brigade reported that there were no injuries caused by the fire, which was accidental.

The fire started around 20:30 in a building on Rue de l'Ordre. Upon the arrival of firefighters, all residents of the flat had already reached safety.

"Additionally, as a precautionary measure, we evacuated residents of the two adjoining buildings," stated Brussels Fire Brigade spokesperson Walter Derieuw.

"We managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings. However, the apartment where the fire originated was completely burned out. The apartment on the first floor suffered water damage from the firefighting efforts," he stated.

"Utility services have been cut off by Sibelga, making the building uninhabitable. Residents are being assisted by the police and municipal services," Derieuw concluded.
