Liège celebrates Bike Week, highlighting all forms of cycling, from 24 to 30 March. Many events have been organised, including seven major bike rides, announced by the three specialist shops behind the initiative: Pro Vélo, CycloLibre, and Kaméo Bikes.

The first event took place on Monday morning along the Meuse quays, where organisers handed out flyers and offered breakfast to cyclists to promote the programme, aimed at encouraging bike use.

“Instead of hosting an open house each spring, we decided to join forces, allowing us to offer more activities. This is also a first in Wallonia,” Sofia Gazon of CycloLibre explained.

The official launch of Bike Week is on Monday evening with a film screening at B3, the Creativity and Resource Centre of the Province of Liège. A range of activities will follow, including mechanical repair workshops, training sessions on cycling in traffic, and a sale of refurbished bikes.

The highlight of the week will be on Sunday, 30 March, with seven bike rides starting from the B3 esplanade, catering to all types of cycling enthusiasts.

“Biking has seen impressive growth in recent years and is gaining in popularity," CycloLibre founder Madeleine Dembour said, citing the Acerta barometer from January 2025. "In Liège, the number of commuters using bikes has increased by nearly 170%.”

“With electric bikes, the potential is significant," Dembour added. "Once people try it, they usually find it enjoyable.”
