A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured in an accident involving a tram in the Antwerp district of Merksem on Thursday morning, local police reported.
The incident occurred around 08:15 on Bredabaan, near the Kleine Bareel stop. The girl was crossing the street when she was struck by a tram.
The exact circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.
Tram services on lines 2 and 3 were disrupted following the accident.
A traffic expert will visit the scene to create a report before the site is fully cleared.
