A 73-year-old Belgian woman is among five people injured in a knife attack in central Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon, Dutch police report. The attacker has been arrested.
The incident occurred on Sint Nicolaasstraat, near Dam Square, Amsterdam’s main square.
The other victims include a 67-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man from the United States, a 26-year-old Polish man, and a 19-year-old woman from Amsterdam.
No information has been provided regarding the motive, but police believe the attacker chose his victims randomly.
The suspect was subdued with the help of a civilian and was taken to hospital for a leg injury.
