The federal budget passed overnight from Friday to Saturday lacks long-term measures and clarity in several areas, including financial compensation for municipalities, support for the Federal Judicial Police, and funding for Defence, according to DéFI president Sophie Rohonyi on X.

The federal government reached an agreement on the 2025 budget, the programme law, and various elements related to Defence, Justice, Asylum, and Migration after 14 hours of discussions on Friday.

“Our country deserved a long-term budgetary trajectory with investments in its workers and public services, not one-off measures without vision,” said DéFI president Sophie Rohonyi.

However, Rohonyi acknowledged that some demands from her political party, such as exemptions from unemployment exclusion for artists and trainees in shortage sectors, were met.

“On the other hand, there is still total uncertainty regarding compensation for municipalities, refinancing sources for our Defence, and support for the Federal Judicial Police and police zones in major cities facing drug trafficking. Our citizens deserve clear commitments!” she added.
