A man in Bruges who was accused of attempting to murder his partner by throwing an acid-like substance in her face was released when it was discovered that the substance in question was urine.
Police say the incident was one of domestic violence, as the two were former partners, according to reporting from Nieuwsblad.
The man attacked the woman in Knokke-Heist outside of a school, and she suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Charges of attempted murder were dropped when the substance was determined to be urine, as the man had originally insisted.
