Brussels' StrEat Fest kicks off at Tour & Taxis on Friday 16 May for its fourth edition, offering three days of live DJ sets, delicious food and an abundance of informative masterclass sessions.

The festival showcases culinary delights from around the globe, from tangy Korean chicken to smoky vegetarian Mexican tacos to celebrate the joys of everyday eating.

Located in the world's second most cosmopolitan city, the diverse food culture on offer will shine in the heart of Brussels' redeveloped former train station which overlooks the canal. The opening day will also highlight the role of women in the Horeca (hotel, restaurant and catering) sector.

What's on offer?

Spotlighting over 75 chefs and 150 workshops and masterclasses, there is bound to be something for everyone. This gastronomic world tour features the talents of both international and local chefs.

Brussels' beloved Fernand Obb, Jacq's, and Bikette highlight fresh local produce in combinations that pack a homely punch, elevating street food to another level. If you're feeling adventurous, venture to Indonesia with Sukma's mix of her grandmother's authentic recipes and her notes from her Bruxelloise upbringing.

Other unmissable mentions include Africalicious, The Taqueria's zesty Mexican flavours, and Yaka's award-winning African street food. From sweet cravings to savoury snacks, At Martha's presents ethical and locally-produced cookies and ice cream. To balance out the sweetness, sample Julien Hazard's hand-selected cheeses and complimentary wines at the artisan market.

Both demonstrative masterclasses from top chefs and practical hands-on workshops are arranged throughout the weekend. No registration is necessary. Visitors will learn from renowned chefs such as the Michelin-starred Pascal Devalkeneer of The Forest Chalet, Sam Yoo of The Golden Bunch, Nicolas Decloedt of Humus x Hortense, and Antwerp-based three-starred chef Viki Geunes.

Former Top Chef contestant Julien Lapraille will showcase his expertise on the "art of barbecue." Further workshops will offer advice on how to be a top pastry chef, perfect your matcha whisking, and host a hand-rolled sushi night.

All ages are welcome, with biscuit-decorating workshops and children's activities throughout Saturday and Sunday.

DJ sets will commence as the sun dips featuring house, EDM and deep bass from names such as Maya Cox, Simone LeSaint and Vicky Kristine, to name a few.

The festival is also committed to fostering an inclusive environment, creating accessibility supports for those with reduced mobility and accommodating those with guide dogs.

As the summer arrives to Brussels, use the opportunity to diversify your palette and sip on a refreshing drink at the outdoor festival terrace.
