UEFA paid Belgian clubs just under €5.1 million during the 2020-2024 cycle as compensation for releasing players for national teams, the European football confederation announced on Tuesday.

RSC Anderlecht received the highest amount with €1.8 million, followed by national champion and current league leader Club Brugge with €1.12 million, KRC Genk with €415,000, and Union Sint-Gillis with €406,000.

In comparison, English clubs received nearly €47 million during the same period, with outgoing national champion Manchester City receiving a significant €5.17 million.

UEFA distributed a record €233 million among 901 clubs from 55 affiliated countries.

These payments relate to international matches in the Nations Leagues of 2020-2021 and 2022-2023, as well as the qualifications for Euro 2024 and last summer’s final tournament.

For Euro 2024, €140 million was allocated.

The total solidarity contribution for clubs was €33 million more than in the previous four-year cycle.
