The Belgian Defence Ministry plans increased activity at its airbases in Koksijde, Ursel, and the Ardennes from 28 April to 2 May, excluding 1 May, as part of crucial NATO evaluation preparations.

Local authorities, including provincial command, mayors, and police services, have been informed to ensure smooth coordination and minimise any potential disturbances.

The Defence Ministry seeks to address possible questions or complaints from residents in advance. Around Koksijde airbase, there will be an increase in low-flying aircraft and the use of drones. These exercises are conducted under strict safety protocols to ensure public safety.

The training schedule also includes exercises involving blanks, which will be carefully controlled and monitored to prevent unnecessary disruptions.

Increased activity will also occur at the Ursel airbase in Aalter during the exercise period. All operations will be carried out with the utmost attention to safety and efforts to minimise disruption for the local community.

In the Ardennes, specific low-flying areas will be utilised during the exercises.
