Philippe Verdonck is stepping down as CEO of Charleroi Airport after six years, it was announced on Friday, and will remain until a successor is found.
The Board of Directors of Brussels South Charleroi Airport and its CEO, Philippe Verdonck, have decided to end their collaboration, according to a press release from the airport in Hainaut. Verdonck will pursue a new challenge.
The board thanked Verdonck for his work, noting that under his leadership, BSCA saw remarkable growth. In 2024, the airport surpassed ten million passengers for the first time. The CEO also helped reverse the significant losses from the COVID-19 crisis, leaving the airport in a healthier financial state.
The search for a successor has begun, and the board hopes the new CEO can start as soon as possible.
The airport had recently come under media pressure from low-cost flight operator Ryanair, who accused it of neglecting security staff shortages which are causing delays for passengers.
