Starting from 1 May, Sibelga, electricity and gas distribution manager in Brussels, will impose penalties on undeclared solar panels, charging stations, or storage batteries in Brussels.

Residents are legally required to declare these installations within 30 days.

Sibelga warns that non-compliant installations could incur a non-declaration fee. If someone installs solar panels or batteries but doesn't declare them, Sibelga might treat them as if they produce no electricity at all.

This regulation aims to prevent network congestion and infrastructure damage. The rise in solar panels in Brussels poses a significant challenge for network management, according to Sibelga.

Sibelga ensures gas and electricity supply to over 500,000 households in the Brussels-Capital Region.
