The 39th edition of the Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles, the biggest running festival of Flanders held annually, has already started, attracting an anticipated 40,000 participants across all distances, matching the event’s attendance record.
The Kids Run and Short Run have already concluded, while the main event, the 10 Miles, began in staggered starts from 13:05 to allow for better crowd management. The final group of runners started at 14:45, with a time limit of two hours and fifteen minutes from the last start.
Due to the substantial number of participants and spectators, as well as numerous road closures, both the city and the organiser, Golazo, are advising people to travel by bicycle or on foot. Since the start and finish are located in Linkeroever (Left bank across river Scheldt), attendees are encouraged to use park-and-ride facilities and take a tram to the venue. Trams will run continuously to Linkeroever, which is, as usual, very crowded. Participants were advised to leave for the starting area well in advance. The Pedestrian Tunnel and ferry services across the Scheldt are also expected to be particularly busy.
