Two people were killed following a stabbing incident and a police intervention in Turnhout in Antwerp on Monday morning, the Antwerp Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed after a report by Het Laatste Nieuws.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the stabbing resulted in one death. The police shot dead the alleged attacker.
The incident reportedly arose from an argument between two men in a building. When the police arrived, the alleged attacker, still armed with a knife, reportedly refused to surrender and acted aggressively towards the officers. Consequently, the police fired, and the attacker succumbed to his injuries.
The exact circumstances of the incident are under investigation. An investigating judge has been appointed.
