A fire broke out in an apartment building on Quai Culot in Dinant late on Sunday night, prompting the evacuation of ten people, according to Dinaphi zone spokesperson Patrice Liétart.
Two individuals suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to Dinant hospital.
The fire started on the ground floor of the building. Emergency services dispatched a multifunctional pump, an aerial ladder, a water tanker from Dinant, and three ambulances with SMUR support.
"The initial responders assisted the ground floor occupants to safety, while those on higher floors took refuge on their balconies," Liétart stated. "Firefighters quickly controlled the flames and ventilated the smoke-filled stairwell to evacuate the dozen residents trapped upstairs."
Two people were temporarily relocated to a local hotel. The remaining occupants were allowed to return to their apartments after they were inspected by the firefighters.
