The Liège tram is now running at its commercial speed of 20 km/h after two months of testing on the city's new tracks.

The first tram departed from the Liège Expo station at around 04:20 on Monday morning.

Many Liège residents rose early to experience the inaugural journey, marking the historic moment with songs and in good spirits, resulting in a nearly full tram. However, the dynamic screens and ticket machines were not functioning properly.

The tram route extends 11.7 kilometres, connecting Sclessin, home of the Standard stadium, with the Guillemins Station, the city centre, Coronmeuse, and Liège Expo.

In total, the line serves 23 stations, with stops approximately every 450 metres. Trams run every five minutes during peak hours and every eight to 15 minutes during off-peak hours. The service operates year-round from 05:00 to 01:00, Monday to Sunday. Ticket prices are the same as those for bus journeys.
