Air Belgium SA declared bankruptcy on Wednesday, making it unlikely for thousands of passengers to receive a refund for their flight tickets.
This affects approximately 10,500 tickets that had been paid for trips to South Africa and Mauritius after 3 October 2023, when Air Belgium ceased passenger operations.
"The remaining claims, such as airline tickets that have not yet been refunded, are now part of the claims under the authority of the receiver," the airline told Belga News Agency on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Air Belgium SA was declared bankrupt by the commercial court of Walloon Brabant. It was officially announced that the French logistics group CMA CGM would take over Air Belgium's cargo operations.
