The warning phase of the “high heat and ozone peaks” plan will end on Monday, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Interregional Environment Unit (Celine).
Sunday afternoon saw particularly high temperatures in the east of the country, with some areas reaching up to 33°C.
Conditions are expected to cool significantly tomorrow, with the maximum temperature in Uccle predicted to be 24°C. As the coming five days will be considerably cooler and Uccle will see maximum temperatures below 25°C, the warning phase is lifted, Celine explained.
Ozone concentrations remained quite high in the southern and eastern regions of the country on Sunday afternoon. However, experts did not anticipate exceeding the European information threshold of 180 µg/m³. From Monday, ozone levels are predicted to return to typical values for this time of year.
