Nine cases of the Omicron coronavirus variant have been confirmed so far in Belgium, virologist Emmanuel André confirmed on Saturday.
The first case was reported on November 26, according to Belga News Agency. Omicron has been identified in 38 countries so far but, for the time being, no deaths linked to this new variant have been reported, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday.
The total number of confirmed cases across the European continent had already reached 109 by Friday afternoon, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) announced.
