After the winter holiday season was still heavily impacted by the global coronavirus pandemic, Belgian airline Brussels Airlines will start offering flights to 85 destinations, including Lanzarote, Lesbos and Marrakesh, for the summer season.
For the first time, Brussels Airlines will start operating flights between Brussels and Munich from 27 March. The Belgian airline will operate two flights a day, while Lufthansa continues to operate five daily frequencies.
According to the Head of Network and Planning at Brussels Airlines Jan Derycke, the booking figures clearly show that people want to travel, despite the uncertainties of the coronavirus.
"Compared to the summer of 2021, we also see that passengers start to book longer in advance again, especially for the school holiday periods," he said in a press release, adding that Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Greek Islands in particular are expected to be the most popular destinations this summer season.
While the airline operates flights to those countries year-round, it is now adding 66 medium-haul destinations with a focus on leisure travel.
