The maximum price for diesel will increase by ten cents to once again surpass €2 per litre on Saturday, the FPS Economy announced on Friday.
From Saturday, a litre of diesel can cost a maximum of €2.029 as the conflict in Ukraine continues to destabilise global oil markets.
The price of diesel surpassed the €2 milestone for the first time at the start of March, when it rose by €0.16 to €2.0840 per litre, just four months after diesel prices set records at €1.652 per litre of B7.
Mid-March, a new maximum price was recorded at €2.286 per litre, however, prices dropped again days later as a consequence of the reduction in excise duties, which was one of the measures introduced by the government to reduce citizens’ high energy bills.

On Saturday, heating oil (50S) will also become more expensive again. For an order of fewer than 2,000 litres, the maximum price will increase to €1.2607 per litre, an increase of 5.25 cents, while for an order that exceeds 2,000 litres, the price will be €1.2288 per litre.
This is expected to further exacerbate the situation faced by many households who are struggling to cope with soaring energy bills.
