A Belgian national, aged around 40, drowned on a beach in Tunisia, Belgium's Federal Public Foreign Affairs Service confirmed.
The woman was bathing off the beach of Al Huwariyah, northeast Tunisia, when the current changed and carried her away from land.
Local civil protection managed to bring her to land, but she died in hospital. She was married to a Tunisian national.
