Current negotiations with the Engie energy group on the future of Belgium’s nuclear plants should be concluded before September, according to Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straten, Belga News Agency reports.
The discussions, which focus on the conditions for maintaining the Doel 4 and Tihange 3 nuclear reactors, which the government decided in March to extend by an extra 10 years, have been complex, Minister Van der Straten (Groen Party) admitted on Saturday on Radio 1.
However, she said she was convinced that a solution would be found by September.
“We are obliged to reach an agreement, in a positive manner,” she said, “Engie has always been an essential partner for safeguarding supply.”
