Four persons have been arrested after violently taking a man from his home in Brugge on Tuesday, the West Flanders prosecutor’s office reported.
Several media described the incident as a hostage taking and reported that the victim was taken to an apartment in Izegem.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the hostage was tied up in Izegem and beaten. He reportedly managed to flee, after which police raided the apartment. The prosecutor’s office did not confirm this information.
No further explanation is to be given for now, as instructed by the investigating judge, according to the prosecutor’s office, which added that the investigation was ongoing.
