On Monday, a person was fatally stabbed in the centre of La Louvière, a municipality in Wallonia.
The incident took place on an open street near Rue Belle-Vue, Belga News Agency reports.
The victim was stabbed in the carotid artery and died at the scene of the crime, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Mons has confirmed.
The assailant was subsequently apprehended and arrested on the scene.
No additional information has yet been provided; the Public Prosecutor's Office has stated that a more detailed statement will be issued on Tuesday morning.
