Belgium’s national railway company, SNCB, is deploying additional trains to the Coast for the extended weekend of 15 August.
"Many people are expected there due to the expected warm weather," company spokesman Bart Crols explained on Friday.
On Friday, four more trains were scheduled to make the round trip the coast, on the Leuven-Ostend, Hasselt-Blankenberge, Louvain-Blankenberge and Brussels-Ostend lines.
Over the long weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday), five additional trains are scheduled on the Leuven-Ostend, Welkenraedt-Ostend, Louvain-Blankenberge (two trains) and Hasselt-Blankenberge lines.
The SNCB said the extra trains were being programmed in addition to the Côte-Express, the fast train to the coast, which will run until Sunday 28 August.
It is advisable to plan one’s trip well and to consult the SNCB mobile app, which indicates the expected crowds on board the trains, the utility added.
