A man has turned himself in to police after shooting dead a man thought to be his lover's spouse in Eksaarde, a municipality in Lokeren, East Flanders.
On Monday morning, a 42-year-old man was reportedly shot in Eksaarde and taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.
In the meantime, the suspect is alleged to have sought sanctuary in the neighbouring village of Kanondreef at the home of an acquaintance, which police forces cornered off and surrounded in order to get to the assailant.

However, the East Flanders Federal Judicial Police have now stated that the assailant turned himself over to the police on Monday afternoon.
The suspect has since been arrested and will most likely be charged with murder, since evidence of premeditation was discovered.
He is alleged to have been having an affair with the victim's wife and on Monday morning wrote "Sorry about everything!!!" on his Facebook page.
