Man rescued from crane after night out in Louvain-La-Neuve

On Saturday evening, the Walloon Brabant Fire Brigade was called in to rescue a 27 year-old man who became stuck on the top of  a crane in Louvain-la-Neuve.

After losing a bet against his friends at approximately 21:30 on Saturday, the man from the nearby town of Court-Saint-Etienne climbed on top of a crane on the reconstruction site of the Jean Vilar theatre.

Once up, the man was unable to get back down the crane on his own so his friends had to call the police and the local fire services to rescue him.

However, as the crane's boom was overhanging the tracks, train service had to be halted while the rescue effort was carried out.
