Antwerp police arrested two 18-year-olds and a 15-year-old boy during a check in the Deken De Winterstraat in Berchem on Thursday evening.
One of trio had an alarm pistol in his pocket, the Antwerp prosecutor’s office reported.
“The police received a call from residents who had noticed suspicious behaviour and a vehicle,” prosecutor’s office spokesperson Lieselotte Claessens said.
Officers arrived at the scene around 11:30 p.m. and checked two suspects, one of whom turned out to be carrying an alarm pistol. A suspicious vehicle in which the third individual was seated, was also checked.
“A total of three people were arrested. The two 18-year-olds will be brought on Saturday before the investigating judge, for participation in a criminal organisation and breaches of the law. The 15-year-old will have to appear before the juvenile judge,” the spokesperson added.
Rue Deken De Winter has already been the scene of three attacks. Last week, five Dutch nationals were arrested there in a vehicle, and they, too. were in possession of a weapon.
