Fast e-bikes (pedelecs) are increasing in popularity in Belgium, according to figures from the mobility industry federation, Traxio.
These bikes, which can reach speeds of up to 45 km/hr. thanks to engines with a maximum power of over 250 watts, have been benefitting greatly from the current economic situation.
In August, 1,849 were registered, 77% more than a year earlier.
Since January, the number of registrations in Belgium has risen to 11,717, an increase by one-third compared to 2021.
