Belgian Prince Gabriel has completed his military initiation phase in the Belgian army, with the royal appearing at a parade of blue berets at the Royal Military School in Brussels on Friday. This year’s ceremony was personally presided over by Prince Gabriel’s father, King Phillipe of Belgium.
No less than 195 students started the military initiation phase at the end of August in Elsenborn in Belgium’s German-speaking region. These future officers, including the Belgian Prince, undertook a six-week training course to learn discipline, exercise, tactics, and military armaments.

The training is intended to immerse young future-office for a professional career in the armed forces and provide basic military skills. 190 students ultimately passed the training and received their symbolic blue berets on Friday, which officialises their new title of cadet.

Prince Gabriel was photographed receiving his blue beret from his father and family photo, including Princess Elisabeth, Queen Mathilde, and the King was taken to commemorate the important moment in the Belgian Royal Family’s military tradition
Gabriel is currently studying Social and Military Sciences in Dutch at the Royal Military School (162nd promotion). He is the second child of the King and Queen, currently aged 19-years-old. The Prince previously attended the National Mathematics and Science College in Warwickshire, England.
