Twenty Belgian football fans have been contacted by the organisers of this winter's World Cup to attend the opening ceremony and match between host country Qatar and Ecuador, all expenses paid.
As reported by the RTBF, the Qatar organising committee has invited 20 fans of the Red Devils, to attend the tournament's opening ceremony and match, due to a low number of tickets sold in blocks specifically reserved for Belgian fans for the World Cup. Plans are also in place for the same offer to be extended to supporters of the other 30 qualified countries.
This follows reports in the past few weeks, that several Belgian fans had been invited to the tournament via social media, all expenses paid.
Which would mean that Qatar would cover the cost of air tickets, accommodation and tickets to the match, and is even offering to extend the accommodation for supporters who wish to stay until the end of the first round of the competition (2 December).

However, this was done without going through the Belgian FA or through the official '1895 Belgian Fan Club,' with the latter recently sending a message to its most fervent supporters to attract those interested in going.
Following that, the Qatar organising committee will select 20 Belgian fans based on a variety of factors, including age, gender, being a fan who "proudly wears their country's colours," and being proficient in English or having limited understanding of basic Arabic.
