Guaranteed to continue its European adventure after bringing back a point from their trip to Braga on Thursday in the Europa League, Union Saint-Gilloise followed up with a resounding 1-6 victory at KV Oostende on Sunday evening, for the 12th day of the Belgian football championship.

Dante Vanzeir opened the scoring after 12 minutes and netted a second on the half-hour mark, giving Union a 0-2 lead at the break.

Karel Geraerts’ side continued to create chances in the second half.

In the 64th minute, Vanzeir was on assist-duty this time to serve Ross Sykes, who made it 0-3 in the 63rd minute. Simon Adingra also beat Guillaume Hubert and made the score 0-4 in the 79th minute.

Thierry Ambrose saved KV Oostende's honour by finishing with a fine strike to beat Union's Anthony Moris in the 89th (1-4).

Then, Two goals came in stoppage time. Victor Boniface brought the score to 1-5 in the 91st and Cameron Puertas fixed the score at 1-6 in the 93rd.

It was a resounding victory much like last season, when Union won this game 1-7.

Thanks to a fourth victory in a row, Union Saint-Gilloise are now level with Club Brugge on 25 points in joint third place. Brugge this weekend beat Union's derby rivals Anderlecht 0-1.

After their 7th defeat of the season, KV Oostende is in 15th place with 11 points, just above the relegation zone.

Genk are top with 31 points, while Antwerp are second with 30, after losing 3-0 to Standard Liege.
