As the number of bicycles and scooters on the road increases, STIB is launching a campaign to educate bike riders on the necessity of abiding by traffic rules.
The capital's public transportation operator, STIB, introduced its newest campaign on Monday to improve awareness among individuals riding bikes and scooters, in the aim of reducing the number of accidents between their own vehicles and two-wheeled modes of transportation.
While the number of these accidents increased only slightly from 55 in 2020 to 62 in 2021, according to the operator, STIB still wants commuters to better understand each other's experiences and, as a result, adapt their behaviours.

As a result, the campaign has attached posters on buses and trams which show a scooter or a bicycle stuck in a vehicle, with the phrase: 'Don't land in this bus, give it the right of passage.'
STIB also wanted to give a reminder of the rules scooters and bicycles are subjected to in the metro, such as a scooter being folded and stable, as well as holding on to the handles of your bike.
