Due to works on the Brussels R0 ring road, the Leonardtunnel (Tunnel Léonard) in Tervuren will be closed Monday and Tuesday night, which will see traffic being diverted above ground.

The tunnel, which runs under the Leonard intersection where the R0 intersects with the E411 on the border between the Brussels Region and Flanders, will be closed on both nights (on the night of 7 to 8 November and the night of 8 to 9 November) from 21:00 to 05:00, the Roads and Traffic Agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer) reported.

The works will see overhead road signalisation being installed on both sides of the entrances to the tunnel for more dynamic signalling. Traffic on the inner ring road (traffic from Zaventem) will be diverted via the N3, the R22 and the Four Arms Crossing.

The Leonardtunnel is currently undergoing a large-scale renovation, of which the first phase ended at the end of June.

The next phase of the works will start in the course of 2023 and is expected to be ongoing until the summer of 2024, which will see all four tunnel shafts (both of the R0 and E411) refurbished and new fire barriers will be installed.
