A woman lost her life in a fire on Saturday morning at a home in Trooz, Liège Province, according to the fire brigades of the Vesdre-Hoëgne-Plateau area and Liège.
More than 30 firefighters from three different zones were involved.
The fire broke out at around 07:20 at the back of a house in Rue Noirivaux in Trooz. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen before spreading to the roof and adjacent houses. When the firefighters arrived on the scene, a woman was still trapped by the flames inside the house, where she later perished.
Other inhabitants were evacuated. According to the Vesdre-Hoëgne-Plateau fire service, 37 fire brigades from their zone, the Liège zone and the Warche-Amblève-Lienne zone intervened.
An investigation has been opened into the cause of the fire, which was not immediately known.
