Following on Tuesday's demonstrations in the Belgian capital, police unions plan further action at the Brussels and Charleroi airports on Friday. As a result, some delays are to be expected at border controls; further information has yet to be provided to passengers.
Towards the end of the year, police unions have staged various protests in light of inaction from the Federal Government – notably pay rises that have not yet been granted. Unions call for a staggered implementation of a previously agreed pay rise and accelerated changes to their pension plans.
Officers demonstrated throughout Brussels on Tuesday to criticise the government's "lack of respect" towards the police. They will now carry out further protests at end of this week.

On Friday, police unions and security personnel will be demonstrating in Belgian airports, as they had done in November. While unions have not called for a strike per se, the airports cannot rule out delays, especially at identity checks.
Brussels Airport issued a statement in which it said that it currently lacks information about the details of the action but "as soon as we have a better overview of the planned actions, we will inform passengers."
