Heavy disruptions are expected at Charleroi (Brussels South) Airport this weekend as Ryanair staff strike once again over poor working conditions and low wages.
The strike, which will last throughout Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January, is expected to see more than 100 flights being cancelled and will likely affect some 20,000 travellers, La Dernière Heure has reported.
According to Charleroi Airport CEO Philippe Verdonck, this weekend's upcoming strike will cause similar disruptions to the one held last weekend by employees of the Irish budget airline.
"The figures are similar to the first three days of the strike [on 30 and 31 December and 1 January], but concentrated over two days", Verdonck said. "We are therefore talking about 20,000 travellers being impacted and a good hundred flights cancelled. We are waiting for the latest details to have exact figures.”

Those passengers affected by the strike should already been notified by email or text message. Travellers who have not yet been notified of their flight's cancellation, or who are unsure as to whether or not their flight has been cancelled, can check on their flight's status on Charleroi Airport's official website.
Disruptions are not expected at Brussels' main airport in Zaventem, following Ryanair's decision to withdraw its stationed aircraft there earlier this year.
