Train punctuality dipped below 90% last year for the first time since 2018, according to figures from rail infrastructure manager Infrabel.
Train punctuality last year was 89.2%, compared to 92.6% in 2021, and 93.6% in 2020, Belga News Agency reports.
In other words, more than one train in ten runs with a delay of at least six minutes, as trains that arrive at their terminus with less than six minutes delay are still considered "punctual."
Additionally, more than 44,000 trains were also cancelled last year. Taking that number into account as well, punctuality drops even to 86.3%.
