Several supporter groups of the Brussels football club RSC Anderlecht put out a statement on Wednesday calling for the club's president Wouter Vandenhaute to resign. His mismanagement of the club's finances has resulted in "a succession of decisions that are, at best, misunderstood, at worst, destructive," according to the supporters.
In recent years, RSC Anderlecht's position as one of Belgium's strongest football sides seemed to unravel with the club failing to win a league title since 2017. Furthermore, the club is losing money and has been implementing various cost-cutting measures.
The board has tried to sell club captain Hendrik Van Crombrugge to save money on his contract, as well as firing Jean Kindermans, the director of their training centre.

"This was the last straw" for several supporter groups of the Brussels club RSC Anderlecht who, on Wednesday, published an open letter in which they called for the club's president Wouter Vandenhaute to resign. Accusing him of only being obsessed with data, the supporters told Vandenhaute "here are some numbers that don't lie: your record is inadequate and there is no sign of better days ahead when we are closer to the relegation zone than to the European play-off."
As a result, they repeated their calls for the president to resign, warning the other board members that "No one is safe and we will not let you continue to destroy our club." "No one is bigger than the institution," they concluded.
