A man in his twenties was injured in a shooting in Mechelen’s Papenhof Park on Friday evening around 19:00, the Rivierenland zone police said. The victim’s life is not in danger.
An investigation has been opened after the Public Prosecutor’s Office referred the case to an investigating judge on the charges of attempted murder. The victim was said to have been known to police authorities.
"Cartridges were indeed found there. The investigation will reveal whether they are linked to the reported incident," said police spokesperson Dirk Van de Sande.
