On Wednesday, a parliamentary committee approved a bill to give artists the same reduction in social security contributions as first-time self-employed registrants.

The extension of the first-time starter scheme was announced by David Clarinval (MR), the Federal Minister for the Self-employed, as part of the government's overall reform of the "artist" status.

In a statement, he explained that this was "an important measure" for artists starting out as self-employed workers. It will allow them to pay lower social security contributions.

Furthermore, this scheme will be extended for their first eight quarters, instead of the current four quarters.

Additionally, these artists will be entitled to a one-off reduction of €111.94 on their social security contributions for their first quarter.
