A policewoman was seriously wounded by a suspect on Tuesday in the cell complex of the Federal Police’s administrative centre on Rue Royale in Brussels, Sudinfo reports. The information was confirmed by the Brussels police and the public prosecutor.
The policewoman was admitted to the Saint-Pierre hospital in a critical condition.
The incident occurred between 4.30 p.m. and 5.00 p.m., when the police took an apprehended person to the cell complex.
“This person violently objected to his incarceration and hit our colleague heavily. An emergency team arrived on the scene to take her to hospital,” a local police spokesperson said.
The head of the Brussels police, Chief Superintendent Michel Goovaerts, went to the hospital to assist the victim’s family.
