A hundred or so police officers are demonstrating at the Tihange nuclear power plant on Monday morning, Belga News Agency reports. Officers are demanding better working conditions and measures to improve recruitment efforts.
Belgian police officers gathered at the reactor in the Walloon municipality of Huy around 06:30 this morning, where they are expected to remain until mid-morning.
This action is part of many to be held by police unions in March, with the first having taken place on Friday at Brussels-Midi's Eurostar terminal. Their aim is to draw attention to the chronic staff shortages their profession faces.

Moreover, "this action is also aimed at asking for better financed public services," according to union spokesperson Eddy Quaino.
"We chose the Tihange site because it illustrates the excess profits generated by some at a time when citizens are under attack from the cost of living crisis," he concluded.
