A wolf was spotted in the municipality of Wuustwezel in Antwerp on Wednesday afternoon between 11:30 and 12:00. Five reports were made in half an hour to the Welkom Wolf hotline.

Although no photos were provided, the association is confident that the animal described is a real wolf and not a wild dog. The animal sighted is likely a young wanderer that has been hiding in the area.

This is the third time in two years that a wolf has been spotted in the region, with the organisation believing that this will not be the last wolf sighting in the region.

The association informs that the animal is not harmful to humans, but it is recommended to take precautions to keep the small livestock in the area safe. A wolf's main diet consists of roe deer and wild boar, but 15% of its diet is livestock.
