The federal police issued a search notice on Monday at the request of an investigating judge in Brussels for witnesses to a shooting that claimed the life of a man whose body was found in his car in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.

“The police were called to intervene on Wednesday evening at around 9 p.m. at the crossroads of Avenue de Tervueren and Boulevard de la Woluwe for a person lying unconscious in his vehicle,” the Brussels prosecutor’s office said on Thursday. “Several witnesses told police officers at the scene that a second vehicle was involved and that shots had been fired.”

“Emergency services were immediately called. After attempting to resuscitate the driver, they could only confirm his death. A judicial exclusion perimeter was then set up to preserve any traces useful to the investigation.

“After being informed of the facts, the deputy public prosecutor ordered the first investigative steps, i.e. the interviewing of witnesses, the viewing of video-surveillance footage and the intervention of the Federal Judicial Police laboratory,” the public prosecutor continued.

An examining magistrate tasked with investigating the suspected murder went to the scene in the presence of the public prosecutor, a forensic doctor and a ballistics expert.
