The Chinese military announced on Monday that it had “successfully completed” its military manoeuvres that targeted the autonomous island of Taiwan, which Beijing claims as a province of China, for three days.
From April 8 to 10, China’s military command “successfully completed various tasks” of military readiness “around Taiwan Island with the +Joint Sword+ exercise.” Officials stated that the military thoroughly tested its joint combat capability under real conditions.
For its part, the Kremlin on Monday gave its full support to China’s military manoeuvres around Taiwan, saying Beijing was the victim of “provocations” by the United States, which supports Taiwan.

“China has the sovereign right to react to these provocative actions, including conducting manoeuvres,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin said it was “not a question of the United States’ support” for China’s military manoeuvres.
